Imagine living in a world where your current day to day involves quarantine, constant sterilization, and social distancing. It's March 20, 2020 and this is our new reality. In the midst of planning the inaugural Black & Brown Podcast Festival (NYC) slated for September 2020, the world suddenly changed. Most, if not all of our industry has come to a halt. We now face COVID-19, the pandemic (sounds like a movie). As social distancing is our new norm, most festivals and conferences either cancelled or postpone their event as public health and safety are top priority. So, as of right now, the festival is on pause. However, we've created something special in the meantime.

In the interim, we wanted to find a creative and innovative way to highlight our Podcasters, content creators of color and bring new content to your digital screens. Today, we have decided to extend and implement an ongoing platform where we highlight Podcasters and content creators while bringing new content to our global audience.

The digital platform intends to have the same aims and objectives as would a physical BBPF:

To feature and showcase Podcasters and content creators of color
To provide a platform to discover Podcasters and content creators of color
To promote and highlight Podcasters and content creators of color role in new and emerging media
To encourage and promote diversity and inclusion in new and emerging media platforms
To bring original content which highlights creators of color

BBPF seeks to pioneer new ways of promoting, encouraging and celebrating cultural diversity in the digital space by promoting podcasts and content creators of color - leveraging creativity, globalization and inclusivity...and creating innovative ways to advocate, champion and further advance opportunities in podcasting and new emerging media for people of color.

\\WILL THERE STILL BE A FESTIVAL AMIDST THE COVID-19 - CORONA VIRUS PANDEMIC?

Great question. As health and safety is of the utmost importance, planning for a physical festival is currently on hold until further notice from our leaders. While we closely follow the recommendations of the CDC on preventive steps to keep our community safe, protected and healthy we will provide updates and/or changes once we, and our sponsors have regrouped from this crisis. \\WHY BBPF?

There are so many podcasters and content creators that are delivering excellent content but no one knows about them. Platforms for podcasters and creators of color that creates an opportunity for exposure are very little in numbers. We believe there should be more than one platform. Just a few here and there is not enough. We don't subscribe to the narrative of there could only be one. Nope. We love variety and options! And, we hope to see more platforms come up that promote and genuinely celebrate our community! Therefore, we want to increase the number of platforms available to podcasters and content creators of color. We also want to provide a platform of discovery physically and digitally for our global audience to discover these talented creators.

Oh, you said more? Our vision is to provide entrepreneurial opportunities for aspiring and current podcasters and content creators of color. We also want to highlight companies, individuals and our allies who are creating opportunities for these creatives. Plus, we want to create fun too! Big Fun!

\\IS THE BBPF ONLY FOR PEOPLE OF COLOR?

Nope. While we promote and celebrate podcasters and content creators of color, BBPF is to be enjoyed and shared by all and pets (for the outside portion). Unity works for us! We get more things accomplished when we unify!

\\HOW MUCH IS A FESTIVAL TICKET?

Zero dollars. FREE. Yep. BBPF and our sponsors got you. However, it will be a ticketed event as there is a capacity limit. First come, first served - you know the drill. However, there will be opportunities for attendees to donate to our partnering charity.
